Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Supervisory Resource and Operations Specialist in Suffolk, Virginia
This position is part of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will serve as a Supervisory Resource and Operations Specialist.
Mission Statement:The Joint Staff assists the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in accomplishing his responsibilities for: the unified strategic direction of the combatant forces; their operation under unified command; and for their integration into an efficient team of land, naval, and air forces. The Joint Staff is composed of approximately equal numbers of officers from the Army, Navy and Marine Corps, and Air Force. In practice, the Marines make up about 20 percent of the number allocated to the Navy.
Mission Statement:Directorate for Joint Force Development: Joint Staff J-7, in support of the Chairman, leads the development of the Joint Force through joint training, leader development, and capability / concept development supporting successful execution of the National Military Strategy.

As a Supervisory Resource and Operations Specialist at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Responsible for analyzing and formulating DDJT joint training programs operations and resourcing applied to the DoD enterprise, ensuring that the programs are resourced to provide training operations support to the DoD enterprise and JS Joint Force Development (JFD) in an effective, efficient and responsive manner.
- Integrates the DDJT funded programs into JS policy, plans and procedures. Incumbent must review short and long range plans in connection with prospective changes in functions and programs.
- Conducts program analysis of substantial scale and impact concerning all aspects of current and projected joint training operation programs for actual or potential effectiveness in achieving planned goals and objectives within an extremely complex multi-mission environment.
- Performs as the Team Lead for DDJT working groups meeting routinely to review training operations programs resourcing execution, funding requirements, travel execution, logistics and achievement of OSD benchmarks.
- Assists with the J7, DDJT Personnel Management programs supporting approximately 540 authorized military and government civilian personnel. Manages DDJT Assessable Units of the JS Management Internal Controls Program (MICP), covering IT mission equipment, acquisition and contract resource management.
- Responsible for the integration of technical and business standards including assessment metrics and continuous monitoring of all programs to ensure practices comply with best practices and standards.
- Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjust priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work.
- Assigns work based on priorities and grade level of subordinates, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of the assignment and the capabilities of subordinates.
- Reviews developmental needs of subordinates and non-supervisory employees and makes decisions on non-routine, costly or controversial training needs and/or requests for unit employees.
- Discharges security responsibilities by ensuring education and compliance with security directives for employees with access to classified or sensitive material.

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: * Experience with exercise planning and scheduling, contract resource planning, exercise resource funding coordination and, execution and reporting * Experience managing acquisition, contract execution and strategic contract planning. * Experience reviewing, recommending and integrating DoD and Joint Staff (JS) joint training program policy into joint training operations and resource management, ensuring each program aligns to, and supports, the National Military Strategy, National Defense Strategy and Global Employment of the Force.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
