Fleet Maintenance Mechanic (Lead Tech) Overview:

*2nd Shift *

The Red Classic - Fleet Maintenance Mechanic (Lead Tech) is responsible for repairing and maintaining all types of customer vehicles and equipment including: routinely performing preventative maintenance & corrective maintenance to ensure efficient vehicle operations, with limited to no supervision. Fleet Maintenance Mechanic (A Tech) will be responsible for mentoring Fleet Maintenance Mechanics (B & C Techs), as needed. _Mechanic (A Tech) must be equipped with personal tool box. _


  • Communicate operating information and concerns to lead personnel on other shifts and in other departments
  • Monitor the status of parts, work orders, performance and employee overtime
  • Coordinate and conduct breaks and lunches, team meetings and employee training.
  • Encourage and cultivate cooperation and teamwork
  • Participate in team meetings to evaluate and investigate process improvement opportunities which may impact team performance
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all vehicles in accordance to Company standards
  • Perform repairs to vehicles (scheduled and non-scheduled)
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction to support a good working relationship with all departments
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and safety standards according to Company and OSHA regulations
  • Maintain vehicle files and Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) files in accordance to Company and Federal regulations
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines.

Required Skills:

  • Class A CDL
  • Strong team communication and problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities (can do attitude and lead by example)
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of automotive and truck maintenance; an understanding of how internal combustion gas and diesel engines work, as well as be able to identify main components
  • Must be able to perform DOT inspections and have knowledge of FEDERAL MOTOR CARRIER SAFETY REGULATIONS
  • Experience with various types of vehicles with a focus on heavy equipment preferred
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Suite and other internal systems)
  • Brake and D.O.T certification preferred
  • ASE certifications preferred
  • Ability to perform occasional lifting of 100 lbs; Standing/walking/stooping/kneeling/ 8 hours a day
  • Ability to work in indoor/outdoor environments, noisy conditions and near hazardous chemicals
  • Solid communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Able to work a flexible schedule and be able vary the start and finish times including weekends and holidays.
  • Quick study, self-motivated problem solver with a high degree of integrity and be able perform job duties with direction on a timely basis. Past job performance must reflect dependability, maturity, initiative, professional demeanor, and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • High school diploma or equivalency required; trade school in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred

An excellent driving record is required. ( 7 year Motor Vehicle Report will be checked)
