MTEQ is seeking a trained Material Handler to assist in our Kilmarnock, VA location.

The Material Handler, will act as a water-spider to deliver work to and from all work stations within the facility, identifies parts, part numbers, quantities and works with higher-level inventory associates to support manufacturing activities to meet production line/program material demands and assure parts availability to support daily assembly requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

Understands material, purposes and signals in order to effectively deliver parts to and from necessary assembly operations and inventory locations

  • Supply all materials to the designated assembly areas

  • Excellent attention to detail imperative

  • Re-stock materials to support activities for point-of-use for production associates.

  • Keeps all materials organized, and prepared for easy presentation to the production line at all times

  • Sets-up the line so that all materials are in place when shift begins and as needed, as directed by Supervisor.

  • Identifies parts and escalates discrepancies to production leads, materials manager or other supervision

  • Interfaces with internal customer(s) and ensures parts availability to support daily assembly requirements

  • Perform any and all functions relating to keeping materials supplied, delivered and presented to associates on production line in such a manner as not to interrupt or interfere with their ability to perform their production responsibilities within the posted takt time.

  • Supports manufacturing activities to meet production line/program material demands

  • Assist where needed, as directed by the team leader, if a “bottleneck” or line stoppage occurs to facilitate getting the line back on pace.

  • Replenish all materials needed on the production line in a timely manner

  • Communicate with Team Leader, Material Handlers or other Support personnel the needs of the area and follow up on any information that may affect production

  • Complete all required training applicable to assigned position.

  • Exhibit positivity, flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required

  • Provides continuous improvement ideas in order to support lean and production initiatives.

  • Ensures quality product utilizing quality procedures.

  • Performs other duties as required and available for overtime as necessary

Skills Required:

  • At least 1 year relevant job-related experience and/or training

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

  • MRP experience as relevant to inventory transactions

  • Ability to operate a forklift (certification preferred )

  • Good organization skills required

  • Ability to repeatedly lift up to 70 lbs.

  • Basic math skills

  • Ability to be flexible and possess a willingness to work in all areas as needed

  • Ability to stand for 8 10 hours

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to operate pallet jack and hand cart

  • Ability to understand and follow work instructions

  • Ability to use a hand-held scanner.

  • Good verbal communication skills.
