POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for coordinating the non-nursing daily office activities of the OPIC according to established policies and procedures. Receives and greets incoming patients, receives and processes patient referrals, responsible for obtaining insurance pre-authorization, schedules patient appointments made by physician offices and patients, creates and maintains patient appointment schedule, manages medical records, enters and reconciles charges, provides secretarial support for the department and Administrative Director. Conducts self to promote an organized and positive environment. Responsible for duties related in creating and maintaining complete and accurate demographic and financial information on all patients for the areas of OPIC by the standards of quality assurance in accordance with Hospital policy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the healthcare field or in a related area.

  2. Ability to read, write, follow oral and written instructions, as well as communicate effectively at a level generally acquired through completion of a high school diploma.

  3. Ability to employ tact and courtesy at all times to patients, visitors, co-workers and other hospital personnel ensuring excellent service delivery skills.

  4. Requires proficient keyboard skills with an average speed of 40 wpm and general P.C. skills using a mouse. Preferred computer skills include Microsoft Office Suite, Cadence and Connect Care

  5. Analytical experience in order to review financial data and report findings to OPIC Coordinator and Administrative Director.

  6. Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

  7. Knowledge of insurance pre-authorization requirements and processes preferred.

  8. Possesses strong communication skills and professional appearance in representing OPIC to physicians, staff and patients.

  9. Eye for detail in reviewing clerical and data entry work for errors.

  10. Work requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with demonstrated ability to concentrate on detailed information for extended periods of time. Work requires analytical ability using standard methods, guides and procedures to determine appropriate codes and acceptability of documentation and physician orders.
