APL Cost & Revenue Analyst in Norfolk, Virginia

This position will be responsible to:

  • Control operational expenses and identify revenue generating opportunities through data analysis in order to improve operations and efficiency

  • Review customer & vendor contracts, perform cost impact analysis for procurement, and digitalize rates in the system for operations & commercial teams, providing for accurate cost estimations and pricing

  • Monitor and support Shared Service Center operations and KPI’s using daily reports to ensure timely vendor invoice processing

  • Perform studies and site visits covering cost-benefit analyses and competition benchmarking, and recommend process improvements to reduce costs and improve revenue

  • Prepare reports and statements by consolidating data for accurate cost reporting and competition benchmarking used in studies and cost-benefit analysis

  • Miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.

    Skill Sets / Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Associates Degree required.

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience with emphasis in providing financial tracking and support in areas Financial / Data Analysis, or Accounting.

  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles

  • Solid working knowledge in analytics

  • Basic knowledge in project management

  • Proficient working knowledge in Microsoft Excel to include data manipulation, formulas, lookups, filters and pivot tables

  • Ability to work under stress and tight deadlines with high level of accuracy

  • Good negotiation and communication skills

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Proven ability to work independently and in team environment

  • Accepts responsibility and accountability with focus on results

  • Ability to monitor and manage priorities and work on multiple tasks concurrently

  • Ability to develop processes and design process manuals

  • Ability to read and interpret contractual agreements

  • Must be available to travel at least once per year for minimum of 2 weeks

  • Must be availble to work 8am-5pm, Monday thru Friday

Skill Sets / Education & Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • Solid working knowledge in basic FMC rules

  • Microsoft Access experience preferred

  • Solid working knowledge of container shipping industry
