External Job Description:

Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.

Basic Qualifications:

This job requires: - Apprentice School graduate, or a Bachelor's degree OR - 3 years at the Production Control Assistant 3 or Production Planner 3 level OR - 8 years experience in manufacturing, production operations or related military service and possess a well-founded knowledge of production operations, production processes, ship systems, and planning methods and schedules and/or plant maintenance activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

The candidate will be responsible for expediting material and updating the VCS Trades Work Management System (TWMS). A working knowledge of Group Issue and Scheduling (GIS), Work Package System (WPS), Material Allocation System (MAC), SAP, Material Requisitioning System (MRS) and basic Microsoft Office software is highly desired. Candidate should be self-motivated, willing to learn new concepts, able to resolve issues, and be very responsive to changing circumstances. This function is accomplished in a team environment with Trade and Project supervisory personnel, therefore strong collaborative skills are essential.
