Responsibilities

Overall Job Objective: To actively and independently participate in all phases of the acquisition and financial reporting process

  • Provide direction and act as a liaison between the Target and Ferguson’s finance department in the accounting and finance duties related to the acquisition and financial reporting

  • Perform the due diligence on an acquisition, to include managing, analyzing, and summarizing the diligence information

  • Prepare the due diligence report

  • Interact with Acquisitions, Finance, Legal and other departments throughout the acquisition process to gather, analyze and prepare various schedules as requested

  • Attend deal closings as needed

  • Work with the Target company to develop a plan for tracking settle-up activity

  • Analyze financial reporting processes of the Target company and identify risk areas

  • Analyze the transaction to properly account for the acquisition

  • Record the opening balance sheet, determine fair value adjustments and intangible asset valuations

  • Oversee the month-end financial reporting of new acquisitions post-close through transition to the General Ledger group and conversion to Trilogie (Ferguson's internal system)

  • Assist in the mid-year and year-end audit process for acquisition locations as needed

  • Reconcile acquisition-related corporate accounts

  • Perform goodwill and intangible asset impairment testing

  • Comply with the Company’s financial controls and Advanced Controls Environment

  • Support corporate programs, goals, and initiatives of the company

  • Work overtime as needed

  • Travel required but varies based on acquisition activity could be up to 25%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance – Accounting preferred

  • Minimum of 1 year of public accounting or 2 years industry accounting experience

  • Auditing experience preferred

  • CPA or CPA exam eligible candidate preferred

  • Ability to think critically

  • Ability to analyze details while maintaining a broader perspective

  • Ability to identify risks

  • Ability to manage a number of different tasks and projects in an organized and efficient manner

  • Strong PC skills to include Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Strong communication skills

  • Understanding of GAAP and IFRS

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
