Primary Purpose of the Job
The Business Unit Plant Procurement lead develops and leads the BU location procurement team for the regionally assigned locations.
The overall goal is to achieve the best total cost position for all external spend of the respective Business Unit plant, the lowest sourcing risks, best supplier performances and ensuring highest efficiency and effectiveness of the location procurement team.
He/she ensures the optimal collaboration of APP regional/location procurement with APP Procurement Engineering as well as with Global Category Management to achieve best procurement results.
He/she is directly responsible the regional/location procurement SRT targets and Stakeholder relationships.
Major activities / Key challenges
Responsible for the relevant Plant Procurement Operations function
Leads Business Unit Strategic Buyers
Works in close conjunction and alignment with Business Unit Procurement Engineers
Shares savings targets with Category Management and Procurement Engineering on location specific spend
Performance areas: Cost Savings (SRT), Stakeholder requests for support, supplier performance, challenging of material & service specifications (demand management), procurement organizational efficiency
Monitors and controls location procurement target achievement and initiates counter measures if necessary
Communicates supplier issues to Business Unit Procurement Operations Director and Category Management
Participate in supplier meetings jointly with Category Lead if relevant for the Plant
Essential Knowledge & Skills / Education
Minimum of 5 years work experience in purchasing management
Minimum of 3 years work experience in operations/manufacturing environment
Proven leadership in purchasing management
Proven successes in people management and people development skills
Technical understanding preferred - Analytical, meticulous, and results driven.
Manufacturing and shop floor experience required.
Ability to make decisions in team setting.
Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and communicate timelines/tasks effectively.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Strong internal and external negotiation skills required.
Experienced in the use of MS Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Minimum Years of Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering
·MBA in Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering
·Minimum of 3 years experience in industrial/automotive/aerospace/manufacturing
·Minimum 3 years of experience with a manufacturing or shop floor environment
·Project management expertise (PMP)
·Minimum of 3 years’ experience with a engineering procurement function in a major manufacturing organization
•Knowledge of a complex purchasing and procurement organization – including contract negotiation and writing
•Strong business acumen, dedicated to results

•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
•Minimum of 5 years experience in an procurement role.
